NTEA had a very fruitful and productive bargaining session on February 14th. Conversations focused on developing contractual mechanisms to deal with the financial uncertainty related to unresolved Washington State Legislature, including issues around the potential “levy cliff” and changes in funding. Although no agreement was reached, conversations will continue until the state provides more clarity around funding for the following school year. Also discussed were teacher placement, transfers/right of assignment and updates to the WAC and RCW regarding evaluations. The next bargaining session is scheduled for March 14. The NTEA Bargaining Team will continue with items discussed on February 14 and initiate bargaining regarding special education issues.
